Would you rather pay for answers from an “expert”, or ask for free, and get answers from “real” people?

search engine marketing firms

Google Answers, was like Yahoo Answers, but the biggest different was you had to actually pay to get answers from Google and supposedly the answers came from “experts”. But Yahoo Answers has done way better than Google Answers, so Google has shut down Google Answers.

From Forbes.com:
“While Google’s product made questioners pay experts for quality responses, Yahoo! Answers, launched in December 2005, is free. Yahoo!’s product gets 24 times more traffic than Google Answers, according to research firm Hitwise. Yahoo! also integrates answers to user-generated questions into results in its search engine, and has solicited questions from celebrities like Oprah Winfrey and physicist Stephen Hawking.”

With Google Answers you had to PAY to get answers, but we can ask questions and get answers free here. Would you rather pay for answers from “experts” or get answers from real people?

Is search engine optimization a possible career?

search engine marketing firms

I work for a marketing firm who specializes in website that have been optimized for search engines. I am thinking of becoming an exclusive ’search engine optimizer’ but am wondering if this is too broad of a category. Can one specialize in this and make a decent living? Thank you to anyone who answers with good advice!

Should I use Yahoo’s “pay per click” or yellowpages.com for search engine marketing on yahoo.com?

best search engine marketing

I am looking to advertise my business on Yahoo’s search engine. I was wondering if it is more beneficial to use Yahoo’s “pay per click” option or if I should use yellowpages.com “guaranteed clicks” to show up on Yahoo’s search engine? With yellowpages.com I would pay for a sum of either 30 clicks, or 60 clicks, and so on. If anyone is familiar with these options I would love to hear any advice you might have. Thanks!

Stock market?

search engine marketing firms

I am interested in getting an internship during this summer dealing with stock market in general. However, while going through numerous internship websites, as well as job search engines, I became more and more lost. None of the categories were as clear cut as to say “Brokerage Firm.” Instead, I came across; Accounting & Finance, Finance, Investment, Financial Services, Investment banking, ect. WHAT?! I just want to get an internship where daily vitality of the market matters, and decision have to be made due to that. Those options are not detailed enough for me to say, “Yes, that’s were I would like to be.” With my upcoming AA in business management, I understand that I will not be a broker; however, I just want to be around that environment. I am interested in getting to taste that line of work, also better understand the market in real life, enough with the books! I live in NJ, so lets not refer to NY, Chicago, or Philly.

Searching for Advertising Suggestions for a Golf League Website?

search engine marketing software

I’m looking for marketing suggestions to attract customers to my golf league management website (I won’t list the site so I’m not accused of spamming). I have an Adwords account, I’ve gotten great rankings with keywords like “Golf League Management” (usually #1 or 2) on Yahoo and Live.com, and within the top 10 on Google. I’ve also posted to golf blogs and directories.

Golf leagues are so seasonal that I basically have a 2-3 month window each year to get new customers. They trickle in by finding it through the search engines, but obviously I’d like to maximize this as much as possible.

I’ve been considering dropping by some golf courses and trying to give a quick unsolicited pitch to whoever’s behind the counter in the golf pro shop, but I’m not sure how this will go over.

Any other suggestions out there? I’ve gotten great feedback from the leagues that are using it, but how do I convince others that it offers much more than they can do with an individual software program?

How can I find a job in a state other than the one in which I currently reside?

search engine marketing firms

I know how to use search engines etc. and I applied for at lesat 4 or 5 jobs on Monster.com yesterday. This afternoon I received two responses via my email. I called both back and neither companies are offering the jobs to non-local applicants. Their job advertisements did not specify this. I feel as though this is going to be a trend. How can I find jobs that will accept and potentially hire applicants who are out of state and looking to move. I do not have the financial base to just move somewhere and then look for a job.

STATS:

DEGREE: Bachelors of Science in Speech and Communication with an option in Communication Studies and a minor in Studio Art, 2007

CURRENT JOB: Business Development Assistant at an engineering firm

LOOKING FOR: BD or Marketing job preferrably in an art or design related firm… also not averse to a HR or Reception

EXPERIENCE: a little over 1 yr. including summer work/internship at a real estate firm during college
P.S.
A good point the first respondent has made. I’m also not against travelling to interview. If I’m confident in myself and my skills, I am willing to drive six hours for an interview, or even take a train. I feel like this also really speaks of a persons character: will work to get something they really want… and I will!
